Many fans all over the world have been anticipating this for years, now it
comes true - Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen teamed up again, Kai joined
UNISONIC!

Michael Kiske: "After so many years of abstinence I had a lot of fun doing
my first live shows with Unisonic in summer 2010, so I agreed to do the
short world tour with Avantasia. It was a great experience to be on stage
with all those great artist, but with Kai it was something different: We
instantly felt the magic again and had a lot of fun together on and off
stage. We both realized that we want to be together in band again. He was
interested in the open musical concept of Unisonic and finally asked me if
he can join the band. I talked to my bandmates and they all felt great about
it. His talent as a guitarist and songwriter is an enrichment for the band
and we are looking forward to his contribution for the music of Unisonic."

Kai Hansen will stay a member of his band Gamma Ray and play all scheduled
shows. Currently he is writing songs with the Unisonic guys for the long
anticipated debut album, which is planned to be released at the end of 2011.

Unisonic:
Michael Kiske (vocals)
Mandy Meyer (guitars)
Kai Hansen (guitars)
Dennis Ward (bass)
Kosta Zafiriou (drums)

Kiske-Somerville collaboration PDF Print E-mail

The collaboration between vocalist Michael Kiske (Helloween, Place Vendome) and American singer Amanda Somerville is one of the highlights of the season in Rock music.

The two singers were put together thanks to the input of Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino. ”I did a duet with a female singer on 'Breathing Water' by Indigo Dying”, explains Kiske. “It was so nice that he offered me a chance to make an album of all duet songs with a famous female singer."

This exciting album sees Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) and Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Primal Fear) handling most of the songwriting (with contributions from Sander Gommans formerly of After Forever and Amanda Sormeville herself), with Sinner overseeing the production & mix at various recording studios in Europe.

Amanda Somerville is the American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who was tapped to replace EPICA vocalist Simone Simons on the band's North American tour with SYMPHONY X due to Simons' health issues. Amanda was also featured on KAMELOT's latest release, "Ghost Opera", and recently toured with AVANTASIA. She last year released her long-awaited solo album, "Windows". A Michigan native, Amanda has resided and worked mainly in Germany and the Netherlands since 1999. She has collaborated with several other bands in the metal scene along with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro, and co-wrote the rock opera "Aina".

Two videoclips were filmed for the songs "Silence" and "If I Had A Wish" in Nurnberg, Germany. Joining Kiske and Somerville for the shoot were bassist and main composer Mat Sinner, guitarist Sander Gommans (After Forever), drummer Rami Ali and keyboardist Jimmy Kresic (Voodoo Circle). The clips were directed by Martin Mueller of RCN TV, who previously helmed the videoclip production for Unheilig, Subway To Sally, Helloween, U.D.O. and Gotthard etc.

The single, "Silence", will precede the release of the full-length CD on August 20th.

LINE-UP:
Michael Kiske - Vocals
Amanda Somerville - Vocals
Mat Sinner - Bass & Backing Vocals
Magnus Karlsson - Lead Guitar, Guitar, Keyboards
Sander Gommans - Additional Lead Guitar
Martin Schmidt / Ramy Ali - Drums
Jimmy Kresic - Keyboards

After the storming appearance at this year's Sweden Rock Festival - their
baptism of fire so to speak - and before it's co-headlining appearance at
this year's Masters Of Rock Festival in the Czech Republic, UNISONIC
releases the first song ever.

The new band around Michael Kiske, Mandy Meyer, Dennis Ward and Kosta
Zafiriou will release a demo recording of the song "Souls Alive" exclusively
on the band's myspace-page http://www.myspace.com/unisonic , Friday, June
25th.

Already performed live during the 3 warm-up shows and their performance at
this year's Sweden Rock, "Souls Alive" is just a little taste of the music
to follow.

Michi's Impressions from first live-shows PDF Print E-mail

Hi Folks!

Having done my first live shows after almost 17 years I'd like to say that I was really thrilled about still having many friends out there after such a long time. Some people even came from Russia just for our freaking warm up shows, another guy came from Turkey! That's unbelievable. I am deeply honoured and moved by this and don't take any of it for granted. My voice was not half way where I want it to be in terms of condition for live situations, this always needs some time, especially after so many years, but on most songs I did well and the audience was great. It was very important for me to do this and to have new face to face contact with you people again after isolating myself for a long time. In Sweden it was extremely cool to see how welcome UNISONIC was and how many autographs we had to give afterwards. And it was not only Keeper or Place Vendome CDs I had to sign; every second CD seemed to be one of my solo CDs. I didn't expect that. –  I have been quite harsh on the metal-scene over some time and was pretty pissed about it, because I can't deal with certain things in it, and that might have made me be a bit unfair occasionally, but that wasn't for very long. And meeting many of you fans now again has helped me to adjust even more now. I don't hate all metal, I just hate morally wrong ideologies which are circulating within the metal-scene and I don't accept any sort of art-slavery. But I still like rock music, yes, even some of my favourite metal-records of my youth, because most of them are simply great rock records. In many ways the music wasn't really the problem. My problem was, is and will always be the satanic sickness that is so common in the scene. I have NO understanding for inhumanity and heartlessness glorifying people and fascistic mentalities. I believe in good-hearted humans, love and understanding, and that free and honest music is the only law for a healthy and true music-culture. What I have criticized about the metal-scene was and is very just, but to each its own of course. I will always speak my mind. My spiritual, moral and artistic convictions haven't changed a bit, but I am a lot more relaxed now and if I went too far sometimes in the past, I am sorry, I don't want to be unfair at all. Not all metal fans are Ignorants or Satanists, I never really thought that anyway. I have actually met only cool, good-hearted and intelligent metal and rock-fans on this very short “Tour”. Some even seem to understand my way of thinking, when we talked. They were much more open minded and friendly than I thought, and if that would be representative for the majority, I'd be very happy. I wanted to get these words out to you guys while all is still fresh. - Love and Peace!See you sometime!

Michael Kiske
